Vive Focus Hits the FCC, Developer Kit Launching Soon?
Then new Vive Focus stand-alone virtual reality headset has been spotted making its way through the FCC in the United States this week, indicating that a development kit might soon be launched by Vive throughout the US. To recap the Vive Focus is HTC’s first standalone VR headset and builds upon the technology from its new HTC Vive Pro and first-generation HTC Vive headset which has now been reduced and is available to purchase priced at $499.
The HTC Vive Focus stand-alone VR headset has been designed to be completely wireless and requires no connection to a smartphone or cable connection to a PC to function. The Vive Focus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile processor and fitted with an AMOLED display offering a resolution of 2,880 × 1,600 pixels. The integrated rechargeable battery is capable of powering the headset for up to three hours on a single charge.
The Focus is already available to purchase in China and will slowly roll out worldwide over the next six months. As soon as more availability as announced by HTC we will keep you up-to-date as always. But hopefully thanks to its arrival at the FCC you can expect a Vive Focus development kit to be available shortly throughout the US.
